The Eurodance Song Festival was
born in Malta in the summer of 2001 by an idea of a
group of djs and radio speakers who wanted to create
a song contest dedicated to dance music with a
selection
of tracks from all over Europe.
Winners were Colonia, a very popular Croatian dance
group with their song "Za tvoje snene oci".

For the second successive year
Balkans
proved to be a good factory for dance artists, since
the 2002 edition of the Eurodance Song Festival was won
by another artist coming form a former Yugoslav
County: the Slovene singer Karmen Stavec with her disco-tune entitled "Še
In
Še".

After two eastern European winners, the Eurodance trophy
moved West thanks to Belgium's dance star Jessy with her
trance song entitled "Regardez-moi".
A new record number of songs competed in this third
edition of Eurodance: 33 entries. Among them, three
Countries took part to Eurodance for the very first
time: Bulgaria, Hungary and Iceland.

After a one-year break, the Eurodance trophy came
back to Eastern Europe thanks to Bulgaria's first
victory. The winning song "Leden Svyat" received top
marks by two thirds of the jury members, placing
first with 67 points more than the
second placed song, the Norwegian hit "Vil Ha Dig".

Winner
of this edition was Natalya Podolskaya, representing Belarus with
the remix of her hit "Pozdno".
Italy placed second with "L'Impazienza" by Danijay, a
rising star on the Italian dance scene. Among
the other partecipants, we remember the song "Un Monde Parfait"
and
"Love Me Love Me" sung by Arsenium, former member of the Moldovan
boy-band "O-Zone"

40 Countries competed in this edition,
which featured two new entries: Lebanon and the youngest
European Nation, Montenegro, that on 21st May achieved
independence through a Referendum.
The winner was the Swedish dj Basshunter with "Boten Anna", which charted in several European
Countries.
